The Black Bob: A Study in Color, Shape, Space and Line. Level: Confident Beginner-Intermediate. Full Day Workshop. Portrait quilt in which there is a strip pieced background and one color fabric for raw edged fused appliqué to complete the image of a portrait. Thread painting techniques taught to define facial features as well as creating an interesting background through machine quilting. Come to class with background piecing ready for fusing. Using an innovative and fresh approach using raw edged fused appliqué placed in a mosaic style with out fabric overlap to create a female portrait with a bob hairstyle. “Angelina:” Portrait Quilts 101 Level: Confident Beginner-Intermediate. Half Day or Full Day Workshop. Intro to portrait quilts workshop uses a raw edged fused appliqué technique to create simple skin, hair and clothing to make “Angelina.” She has three hair options-short spiky, layered bob, and long wavy. Facial/hair embellishment techniques will be taught. Finished size: 18” x 18”. Sewing workshop. Pattern required $8.00. |

Facial Design Workshop Level Intermediate/Advanced . Full day class. Technique style class on adapting a personal photo of a person to convert it into an art quilt. No commercial photos will be used due to copyright infringements. Facial contouring and highlighting will be discussed as well as how to best create eyes, noses, lips, teeth, cheekbones, hair and clothing. Pattern pieces will be created for a raw edged fused applique placement to build facial design elements in the piece. An understanding of fusing techniques is needed. |

Fabric Postcards Level: Confident Beginner. Half Day Workshop. Learn to make fabric postcards which can be mailed or used as a micro art piece. Three design possibilities will be offered from easy to advanced. Raw edged fused appliqué technique and embellishment options will be taught. Different display ideas will be available.
