IQA Celebrity Mini Quilt Silent Auction Piece

I have had the pleasure of being selected as one of the “Celebrity Quilters” who have been asked to create a piece for the International Quilt Association’s Mini Silent Auction quilted wall hangings which will be at the International Quilt Festival this November at Houston. These donation quilts help raise money for the association. I feel honored to be selected and am thrilled many thousands of people will view these quilts. It is hard to give this one up but I have the pattern if I want to make another version!! I am loving Pop Art and found an image on Pinterest that inspired this quilt. I used velvet for the hair and mouth and pink tulle for the cheeks. I pulled many of my pink and turquoise flower embellishments and hand sewed them to this quilt. I have a fun rainbow trim that can be rusched by pulling the inner thread. I hand tacked some to the dress neckline. I made 5 fabric yo yos from the remainder of the “mod” dress fabric. The eyes were detailed with white matte fabric paint, brown Pigma Micron marker for the irises, black paint on the ends of the eyelashes and turquoise sequins glued to the eye for eyeliner.

This is the quilt before the embellishments- boring to me!
